NEW MEMBERS
Recruiting Requirements

The Candidate Must:
  1. Attend an Event. Candidate must attend an event with an impartial Sackholder present, would be really nice if Lilw or Targ could be there especially. Events can classify as anything involving the Linkshell like Brenner, Garrison, Panty Raids, etc. However, it would be preferable if the candidate attends something that actually benefits another linkshell member - such as Kazham Key run, Promy, Rank Mission, Coffer Key Hunts, etc. etc. as this will demonstrate that they are also here to help out the Linkshell, not just take when they need something.
  2. Party with a Linkshell Member. It would be preferable if the Candidate also Parties with an unbiased Sackholder or Linkshell member so that the demeanour of the Candidate is observed. We have a few members who have started to show rude tendancies toward not only their own party members, but other parties in the vicinity, and this will not be tolerated further. Not only does the member get a bad reputation, but it gives the LS a bad name too. (And yes that means cussing out other parties, calling them slow, pathetic, useless etc. No, it's not "psyching" them out so you can get the mobs, it's just rude, and I find it very distasteful.)
  3. Get Involved. Candidate must make an effort to assimilate and get to know other linkshell members. I've seen it where friends of current members join up, but all they end up doing is talking to their friend and ignore other people. This is a social linkshell, it would be nice to see people "socialising". Just wanting your friend to join because they're your friend, doesn't mean they're going to fit in to the linkshell. If they don't want to participate and socialise with other members, then just keep your correspondence in /tell with these friends. There is a difference between "quiet" members, and non-participating members. We have many members who quietly go about their business, but who do still involve themselves in the linkshell. The difference will be shown in how willing the member is to attend events, offer help when they other members need it and they can help out, and in general just display a level of involvement other than when they want something.
  4. Show a good reputation. I will also be asking the Linkshell what they know of the Candidate - ie. if they've played with them before, etc. If there are any major problems between the Candidate and one of the regular members on the Linkshell, then an application to join may be turned down. If the candidate has a reputation of being rude or a troublemaker, or just showing up when they want something, the application will be denied.
  5. Show a level of involvement. Finally, following on from that. Preference will be given to Candidates who plan on making FFLS their main Linkshell. I'm not going to go so far as to say "no other linkshells", that's just stupid. However, I am looking for people who are looking for a "home" and want to participate with the other members - be it in events, parties, helping with quests etc. and who are not looking for just another "resource" when they need help with something. If a member is seen to be "hopping" linkshells when looking for help, and all you hear from them is "i need help with ..." when they are on, and then they "switch ls's" as soon as help isn't forthcoming, then they will be asked to leave. This now applies to current members who just pop up when looking for something too.
  6. Make an effort. It would also be really nice (yes, PRESENT members included) to see people making a bit of an effort to include a Character Profile (RL profiles are optional, i'm talking about your Character) on the website, and more so, to see people signing up to the LS Community Message Boards and checking it for events and so on. Don't rely on the /lsmes to tell you everything, often upcoming events are posted on the website AND message board calendar before they'll hit the /lsmes. People's willingness to read the website and the boards also indicate their level of involvement in the Linkshell too.

I've had some new members ask for friends to join. I am going to make it a rule that unless it's overruled by myself (Lilw) for exceptional circumstances, new members and non-regular members cannot ask to recruit a new member. Two reasons for this. 1. New Members are still integrating and showing to us that they will be an asset to the Linkshell, and we don't know you too well, so therefore we don't know how your judgment of other people is. 2. Non-regular members simply aren't in the Linkshell very often, and as people requesting the new member are also going to be asked to in essence "sponsor and mentor" the new candidate, you have to be on the Linkshell to do so. Invite them to the Linkshell you're on the most, not the one you pop into on occasion.
